Co-convened RGS-IGB Annual International Conference 2024 session on Mapping Visions, Practices and Participation in Water Futures.
Tyndall Manchester researchers (Ella Foggitt and Claire Hoolohan) co-convened a hybrid session at the Royal Geographical Society-IGB Annual International Conference 2024 in collaboration with Alison Browne (Geography, The University of Manchester), Kavindra Paranage and Tom Hargreaves (3S, University of East Anglia). The session on Mapping Visions, Practices and Participation in Water Futures heard from eight speakers, including Ella Foggitt who delivered a presentation on the The University of Manchester’s work on Enabling Water Smart Communities (led by Claire Hoolohan with Alison Browne) investigating public priorities for future life with water in new build residential developments. Speakers mapped the diverse ways that people interact with water in the natural environment and their homes, gardens, and communities at a variety of scales to unlock opportunities for more sustainable water futures.
With speakers and an audience comprising academics and policymakers, new connections were made and opportunities for further collaboration will be explored.
