Research into people’s perspectives on future home life with water in new housing developments presented at a Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management webinar.
Ella Foggitt from Tyndall Manchester spoke at a Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) webinar on Community Perspectives and Engagement with Water. Ella reported on findings of research led by Claire Hoolohan (Tyndall Manchester) with Alison Browne (Geography, University of Manchester) into public and professional perspectives on living with water in new build homes in England and Wales. In her talk, Ella highlighted the need to move beyond a singular consensus-oriented understanding of ‘what the public think’ about new water infrastructures and to address the broad range of concerns and needs people have for new homes. This research is being conducted as part of the Ofwat Innovation funded Enabling Water Smart Communities project.
Ella engaged in conversations with practitioners, including water engineers and environmental managers, around the potential implications of our research for their work.
